IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Lawrence
Bishop
May 22, 1958 – February 10, 2025
Daniel Lawrence Bishop of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born in East Chicago, IN on May 22, 1958 as the beloved son of the late Joe and Louise Bishop. He grew up in Hammond, IN in a vibrant neighborhood full of life, laughter, and memories that his friends and family will share and treasure forever.
Dan lived for his family and friends, delighting in spending time with them at home or at his own piece of paradise on Dewart Lake. He loved nature and could often be found fishing off his boat, working in the yard, sitting around a bonfire, or simply enjoying a beautiful sunset.
He built a career as a Union Roofer of Local 26 until his retirement in 2013, and remained a proud Union member even after his retirement. He utilized his construction skills to build and improve upon his family home, making a beautiful space big enough to fit everyone he loved most under one roof. There was never a job too big for Dan; he took great pride in rising to any challenge and he was firm in his belief that working hard meant doing it himself, and doing it right.
Dan was blessed to have a large, loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Karolyn Bishop (née Kulka), and his three children: Matthew, Ryan, and Rachel (Sean) Bishop. He is also survived by his cherished sisters Glenda (Jerry) Novak and Deb Vercel; sister-in-law Doris Bishop; nephew Brian (Carrie) Vercel; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and other family members who will forever miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise Bishop, his brother Joe E. Bishop, his niece Mary-Jo Bishop, and his nephew Wayne Bishop.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Amber Care Cremation Society & Funeral Home of Hammond, IN. Funeral Services will be held privately according to Daniel's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org/donate
Daniel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and may his memories be forever a blessing.
