Maria Carolina Herrera, age 70, of Hammond IN, passed away on September 1, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Amber Care Cremation Society & Funeral Home: 5713 Hohman Ave., Hammond IN 46320.  Funeral service will be held at Calvary Tabernacle Church located at 621 S. Broad St. Griffith, IN 46319 on September 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.  The visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Church Service to Follow from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM. A Memorial Luncheon meal for the family will commence immediately following the Church Services, inside the Church Fellowship Hall. Interment to Follow – Private.

Maria was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico on April 6, 1954. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Telesforo and Aurora Herrera and her grandson Gerardo Navarro. Maria (best known as Carol) is survived by her two sons, Miguel (Christina) Navarro and Telesforo (Crystal) Navarro. She is endured by her grandchildren, Amanda Navarro, Juanita (Marcos) Morales, Elida (Isrrael) Alarcon, Sabrina (Jeffrey) Navarro, Miguel Navarro jr., Tatiana (Steven) Gonzalez, Landen Perez and Elliana Navarro.

Maria was also blessed with many great grandchildren, Mireya, Liliana, Isrrael Jr., Octavia, Jordan, and Azzaria. Maria is survived by her siblings, Guadalupe (Juanita) Herrera, Onesimo (Linda) Herrera, Maria Julia (Martin) Hernandez, Maria Rosalia (Domingo) Maldonado and Maria Antonia (Pedro) Herrera. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends. Maria worked at maintenance in the steel mill for many years.

She enjoyed playing bingo, and she enjoyed spending quality time with all of her siblings and friends. Maria's pallbearers will be as follows and are designated to be: Dalia Guerrero, Jesus Aguila, Theo Brown, John Jo Herrera, Isaiah Maldonado, Isrrael Alarcon, Miguel Navarro Jr, Steven Gonzalez and Landen Perez.

En lieu of flowers, The family requests all donations be made to the family directly to help with funeral costs.
