April 16, 1970 – June 29, 2025
Mary K. Schoop, age 55, of Hammond, IN, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 29, 2025. She was the loving wife of Eugene Schoop, loving mother of Christian Schoop, and loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Carl E. Vanderkleed, her mother, Barbara L. Vanderkleed, her sister, Delaine K. Vanderkleed, and her brother, Mark E. Vanderkleed.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Eugene Schoop, her son, Christian Schoop, her siblings, Cindy (Bryan) Robling, Carla Knight, Beth Fischer, Judi (Les) Fuller, Dan (Juli) Vanderkleed, and Sarah (Dan) Haneline; and her sister-in-law, Rebecca (Sha) Goreham.
She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, Carl (Lauren) Robling, W. Paul Robling, Jacob Robling, Bryan Robling, Michael (Dana) Vanderkleed, Shaun Knight, Sandi McGann, David (Melissa) Fischer, Sarah VanWye, Devona Fuller, Makayla (Dylan) Pounds, Bryce Vanderkleed, Blake Vanderkleed, Austin Haneline, Courtney Haneline, Mackenzy Goreham, Teagan Goreham, and Kealeigh Goreham, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mary worked alongside her husband to run Hopman Rug Cleaners and part-time as the Church Administrator at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was greatly involved at Trinity with planning multiple programs and events such as VBS, G.R.A.C.E. Youth Group, Easter Egg Hunts, Trunk or Treats, and writing Thrivent grants. She was also involved at St. John's in Lansing, IL, while her son, Christian, attended school there. Mary was very passionate and creative about sewing and crafting. She enjoyed making embroidery projects for her family and loved ones. She will be missed by all. Her greatest accomplishment was caring for her husband and raising her only son, Christian.
Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Amber Care Funeral Home: 5713 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN 46320. Mary's Celebration of Victory will be held on Wednesday, July 9th , 2025, at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Trinity Lutheran Church.
